"My daughter Charlotte Meath attended CircArts before NICA. CircArts assisted Charli in discovering her passion, and their expertise in coaching and youth development extended her technical and creative skills in circus performance and choreography.
CircArts prepared her for auditioning and securing a place at NICA. Charli now has a professional career in this industry.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

Emerging Artists have achieved remarkable results with dedicated students receiving awards for their efforts as artists, nationally, and building lasting friendships with their peers and industry connections.

Students develop strong foundations in circus, a healthy training mindset and performance ready specialties including a ground based specialty such as Handbalancing, Contortion, Hula Hoop, Juggling, Unicycle, Cyr Wheel, Foot Juggling..

Most circus companies expect performers to have two high level acts, and having a ground based act makes you far more employable, due to the over saturation of aerialists in the market, and usually a lack of capacity to rig in most venues.

This ensures that our artists are very employable and easily find work, if they do choose to pursue careers in the arts.

Having regular performance opportunities and a nurturing environment gives students a platform to test creative material while feeling safe to fail.

This empowers artists to express themselves, experiment and explore new ways of moving and creating, as they develop their own unique style as performers.

With time, this process inspires change and expands the industry!

“CircArts is a highly regarded circus training facility in Geelong, which services southwestern regional Victorian emerging artists through both advanced and community-level training. They are also dedicated advocates for making circus arts training accessible. CircArts has a proven track record for leading successful applicants to NICA’s programs, including some of our celebrated alumni. We see CircArts’ new program as creating further pathways to high-level circus arts training, which will be a great benefit to both NICA, as well as the wider Victorian circus sector."

Simona Jobbagy - Director of NICA (National Institute of Circus Arts)
