CircArts, Australia’s most extraordinary career-focused circus studio, is seeking a dynamic and inspiring Artist Development Director to lead our Aspiring Artists, Rising Artists, and Tour Ready Artists programs.

This is a unique opportunity to mentor and develop elite youth artists through structured programs that culminate in fully-formed acts and industry launches — without the need for further training.

✨ Your Mission:

  • Design and lead our professional artist training pathway from foundation to launch:

    • Aspiring Artists – early-stage career preparation, development of high level skill set

    • Rising Artists – developing acts and refining high-level skill sets, launching their act to the market

    • Tour Ready Artists – Agent connection, entering the industry, launching act and providing support as they get their first contracts

  • Create progressive, outcome-based training plans for long term high level skill progression that span technical, artistic and professional development.

  • Collaborate with our studio aerial, acrobatic and performance coaches to ensure aligned, elite-level program delivery.

  • Mentor students 1:1, providing clear pathways, goal-setting, and feedback on training, mindset, and performance

  • Oversee act creation & skill development to enable students to begin performing at 16 and launching a high level act into the international market by 18.

  • Organise performance opportunities, professional development events and agent/industry connections alongside team

  • Guide final-year students through the business and branding of being a professional artist and assist them to find an agent and negotiate their first contracts

  • Manage progress tracking and communications within a streamlined, remote-friendly workflow.

💻 Remote Work, Real Connection:

This role is remote-first, with the Artist Development Director connecting with students and coaches via online video feedback, email and shared platforms. • Have a strong understanding of act development, biomechanics and performance coaching.

  • Are passionate about helping students grow into working professionals — not just technically, but creatively and mentally.

  • Can communicate clearly and positively with both students and coaches in a remote setting.

  • Thrive when building meaningful relationships and delivering real outcomes.

  • Are organised, visionary and excited by the idea of launching artists into real-world careers.

🌈 Bonus Points If You:

  • Understand the industry landscape nationally and internationally.

  • Have experience coaching artists through festivals, touring contracts, or competitions.

  • Are confident using collaborative online tools and mentoring remotely.

  • Have experience in branding, artist identity, or performance portfolio development.
