Getting started
What ages do you teach?
Everyone from 9 months to adults. Tiny Circus is for 9 months to 4 years, kids classes start at 5, teens train in youth classes up to 17, and adult classes are 18+.
Can we try a class first?
Yes. The $55 Starter Pass gives you 3 beginner classes to use within 14 days. Tiny Circus has a $30 casual class. You can buy either at checkout when you book a class.
Which class should we start with?
Ages 5 to 11 start in a Discover class (circus, aerial or acro). Teens start in a Beginner (Level 2) youth class. Adults start in Discover Aerial, Aerial Silks, Low Flow Trapeze, Handstands or Acro. Not sure? Text the age and any experience to 0489 082 643.
Do I need any experience or fitness?
No. Beginner classes are made for complete beginners. Coaches break every skill into small steps and give options for every body.
What should we wear?
Fitted activewear. For aerials, leggings that cover the knees and a top that covers the underarms make grip more comfortable. No zips, buttons or jewellery, hair tied back, and bring a water bottle.
Most classes are barefoot or in grip socks, and grip socks are included in your Welcome Kit when you enrol. Unicycle and Circus Skills classes need closed-in shoes.
Memberships and payments
How much does it cost?
Memberships are $34 a week for 1 class, $88 for 3 classes (including free open training in staffed hours) and $139 for 6, plus a one-off $149 Welcome Kit. Tiny Circus is $25 a week. See all prices.
What do I pay when I join?
Your $149 Welcome Kit (tee, grip socks and Skills Passport) and your first week. After that, your membership is billed weekly to your card.
What is the Love It Guarantee?
If it is not for you, you can stop within your first 4 weeks with no notice period. After that, memberships have a 12-week minimum and then continue month to month.
How do I cancel?
Email geelong@circarts.com.au with at least 4 weeks' written notice.
- Love It Guarantee: email us before your 4th week and we will stop your membership with no notice period.
- 12-week minimum: if you cancel within your first 12 weeks, your membership continues until the 12 weeks are complete or 4 weeks after your notice, whichever is later.
- Aspiring Artist Program: 12-month commitment and 3 months' notice.
Cancelling a membership does not refund fees already paid, and unused make-up credits end when your membership ends.
Can I pause my membership?
Yes, for up to 4 whole weeks each calendar year. Email us at least 7 days before the pause starts. If you need longer for a medical reason, email us with a medical certificate.
Where can I read the full terms and policies?
Our Member Terms, Release and Waiver of Liability, Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy apply to all members. Your membership's commitment, cancellation and pause rules are also shown in the Momence app when you join.
Do you accept Get Active Kids vouchers or NDIS funding?
We are not currently registered for Get Active Kids vouchers. We are not a registered NDIS provider, but many families use plan-managed NDIS funding for our classes. Email us and we can invoice your plan manager.
Do you sell gift cards?
Yes. Gift cards can be used for classes, passes, holiday workshops and parties, and are valid for 3 years. Buy a gift card.
Missed classes, make-ups and cancellations
What if we miss a class?
Make-up classes are a privilege, not a right. It is your responsibility to attend your class, and if you miss it, you lose it.
Cancel in the Momence app at least 6 hours before class and you will get a make-up credit. Make-up credits:
- can only be used for classes, nothing else
- depend on a spot being available, so there is no guarantee you can use one in the same type of class, or at all
- expire after 3 months, or when your membership ends
- are not refundable
We strongly recommend making every effort to attend all of your sessions.
What if CircArts cancels a class?
If we cancel a class, we provide a make-up class. Your membership entitles you to a set number of sessions per week, and credits for cancelled classes are given at our discretion.
A substitute coach is not a cancellation.
Do classes run in the school holidays?
Yes. Weekly classes run through school holidays. Our summer break for weekly classes is 21 December 2026 to 17 January 2027. Holiday workshops, privates and parties keep running.
Are you open on public holidays?
We will let you know if we are closed. Sometimes we stay open, for example when a public holiday falls in the lead-up to a show. If we close for a public holiday, make-up sessions are provided.
Levels, progress and shows
How do students move up levels?
Students move up when they are ready in skill and focus, not because of their age. That way we know they can attempt harder skills safely.
If your child feels ready, just ask us to move them up and we will assess them. Otherwise, coaches will let you know when they are ready. We may suggest they trial the next level up and have that level's coach approve the move.
Students with lots of gymnastics experience often start in Level 3 or 4. See your CircArts journey.
How many classes a week should we do?
We suggest a minimum of 3 sessions per week. That is where you see progress every week, and the 3x weekly membership also includes free open training.
If you can only do 1 session a week, pick up an extra session casually whenever you can at the discounted member casual price.
Can members add extra classes?
Yes. Members can book extra casual sessions any time at the discounted member casual price, as long as there is a spot.
What is open training?
Open training is time to practise unsupervised during staffed hours. Anyone can book it.
On a 3x weekly membership, open training is free, but every session must still be booked in the Momence app for safety, because we need to know who is in the venue. See open training times.
Do students perform?
Yes. Students perform in our shows and at community events through the year.
This year's end of year show, ACT ONE | CircArts Up Close, features Level 3 and above classes on 3, 4 and 5 December. Families can find show nights, class allocations and tickets on our End of Year Show page (password protected for our families).
Our Aspiring Artist Program performs at festivals like Adelaide Fringe.
What is the Evolving Leaders program?
Our leadership program for students aged 10 and over who want to grow their confidence, leadership and coaching skills, step by step through 6 levels. Learn more.
At the studio
Where are you and where do I park?
Warehouse 33, 33/8 Lewalan Street, Grovedale VIC 3216. There is 5-minute drop-off parking out front. We are close to public transport, and walking or cycling is encouraged.
We are right next to Roof Racks Galore. Walking and cycling to the studio are encouraged.
Can parents watch?
Tiny Circus parents and carers are in the room with their little ones. All other classes are drop and go.
We do not have space to sit and watch, it is dangerous to have people in the training space who are not training, and learning in front of an audience distracts students. Here is why we ask parents to stay out of the training area:
- It is not safe for you. There is lots happening on the ground and in the air, and we want to keep you from falling over, getting landed on or bumping into something.
- It is not safe for our students. Parents in the training area are distracting and can cause injury. If a student lands on you, it will probably hurt them more than it hurts you.
- Being watched is hard. When you are first learning a new skill, it can be nerve-wracking to be watched, especially by your parents, and even more so by a group of parents you don't know.
- We need to be fair to all our members. If your child needs extra encouragement on their first day and a coach invites you in, please remove your shoes, stay until your child is settled, then quickly and safely head back to reception.
- Our equipment is expensive. Training floors, crash mats and aerial equipment cost thousands of dollars, and keeping them in top condition keeps everyone safe.
There are plenty of chances to see your child's progress through the year, like Parent Participation weeks, where kids become the coach for the day and get their parents upside down, plus our shows and community events.
In some cases a carer may stay to support a student who needs extra help. This is at the studio manager's discretion.
Can my child leave the studio between classes?
Only with written permission from a parent or guardian.
Are your coaches qualified?
Yes. Our coaches are highly trained circus performers, gymnasts and dancers with years of experience performing, training and coaching. Where possible we recruit coaches with NICA (National Institute of Circus Arts), Gymnastics Victoria or equivalent qualifications. Our team has included NICA graduates, graduates of European circus schools such as AMOK, performers on the Cirque du Soleil database, a physiotherapist, a personal trainer, an Olympic gymnastics and trampolining competitor and a Disney World choreographer. We also run coach training and invest in regular professional development.
Every coach goes through our in-house coach training program, holds a Working With Children Check and first aid, and keeps learning through ongoing training and professional development.
Is it safe?
Safety is not only built into how we teach, it is part of the culture of circus itself, and has been since circus began. Safety underpins everything we do and is encouraged in every session: in how we set up each class, and in the open communication that means students always feel comfortable telling us what they need to feel and be safe.
- Crash mats and soft floors for tumbling and landings
- Experienced coaches trained through our in-house coach training program
- Working With Children Checks and first aid
- Ongoing coach training and professional development
- Our Evolving Leaders program, building the next generation of safe, confident leaders
- Small classes, with every skill broken into safe progressions
Is the studio accessible?
We have accessible bathrooms. Please note that, due to the nature of the venue, there are some uneven surfaces, and doors from the car park may be tricky to open. Let us know about any access needs before you visit and we will help.
